At Zinkworks, a Senior Full Stack Engineer is more than just a coder—you're a key leader in our mission to overhaul high-stakes financial platforms. We're looking for an experienced engineer to help one of our major financial services clients move their entire account opening system from a legacy setup to a modern, scalable platform built on Java.
This is a chance to be at the heart of a huge transformation project, re-engineering core functions into cutting-edge services that will improve performance, flexibility, and integration across the board. As a senior voice on the team, you’ll be doing more than just writing code; you’ll provide technical leadership, mentor other engineers, and help guide the architectural decisions that will make this project a success.
**Who We Are**
Zinkworks is an Irish company that partners with major players in telecom and finance across the EU, UK, and US. Our teams are experts at breathing new life into old systems, shifting critical platforms to the cloud, and creating smart, AI-driven automation. We tackle everything from complex OSS overhauls to building network intelligence, helping our partners gain a genuine advantage through technology.
**What You’ll Be Doing**
So, what does the day-to-day look like? You’ll split your time between hands-on coding and providing technical guidance. A big part of your work will be designing and building secure, high-performance Java applications using Spring and Spring Boot. On the other side of the stack, you'll be creating clean, responsive user interfaces with Angular and connecting them to the backend through RESTful APIs.
You won't be working in a silo. We operate in an Agile/Scrum setup, so you’ll be collaborating closely with architects, testers, and DevOps engineers in sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives. As a senior member of the team, you'll also be a go-to person for code reviews, mentoring others, keeping the CI/CD pipelines running smoothly, and troubleshooting any production issues that pop up.
**What You’ll Need**
We're looking for someone with a solid background in professional software development, probably around eight years or more. You'll need to be deeply familiar with Java (17+) and the Spring Framework, and have real, hands-on experience building with Angular (17+). We need someone who truly understands the full stack, from the database to the user's screen.
You should be comfortable working with RESTful APIs and microservices and have a good handle on modern front-end design. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps is also important. Beyond the technical skills, we’re looking for a great problem-solver who can communicate clearly and work well with a team. This role does involve visiting the client's office in Dublin a couple of times a month, and there might be an occasional need to sync up with teams in the US.
**Bonus Points**
You’ll really stand out if you have experience with AWS, Docker, or Kubernetes. Familiarity with Jenkins for CI/CD is also a big plus. And if you’ve worked in finance or another highly regulated industry before, you’ll be able to get up to speed even faster.
**Our Culture**
At Zinkworks, we’re serious about creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong. We believe that our different backgrounds and perspectives are what make us strong, driving better ideas and collaboration. As a company rooted in Ireland, we're also passionate about giving back to our local communities and working to build a more equitable and connected society.
