Wednesday started off pretty rough for folks in Crystal when a parent from Northport Elementary got picked up by ICE agents.It all happened at the bus stop; the parent was just there, waiting with their kid.Word got out through an email that Northport Elementary Principal Bridget Dooley sent to all the district staff and families.The kids waiting at the bus stop and the ones already sitting on the bus probably saw the whole arrest go down, she said.Even with the upsetting situation, the school made sure all the students, including the one whose parent was taken away, got on the bus okay.Principal Dooley mentioned in her message that she understood how everyone was feeling about what happened."We know this kind of news can make students and adults feel scared, confused, and worried," she wrote.To help with this, the school’s made sure that counselors, social workers, and other support staff are on hand for students or staff who might need some help.The Robbinsdale School District said the bus driver and school folks did everything by the book when that thing happened.5 EYEWITNESS NEWS apparently wanted to know more about the arrest from the U.S.The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is involved, and we're expecting more updates on that soon.
